Recently, J and I have been having conversations about things we just "know." No questions asked, no second guessing, just knowing deep down. There have been a handful of things that I have "known" recently, ranging from simple things like our tones going off that day (which has the department thinking I am "jinxing" them) to knowing and calling a particular person's action and reaction to something that was tossed in our laps recently. I started thinking about all of the times that I feel a certain way about something, whether it is good or bad, and I question myself. Is this just me? Is this just my thoughts or my opinions or is this God giving me insight on something? How many times does this happen to you? Do you ever meet someone and, normally you get along with everyone, but this person just really grates something in you? Do you question your feelings? "Is it just me or is there an issue with this person?" Then perhaps weeks or months down the road find out that the feelings you had about them or that situation but you couldn't explain were in fact right on the money? Sometimes it can be as absurdly simple as the little thought to cover that baby up so you don't get peed on and sure enough, 30 seconds later, you are getting peed on. Was that a "common sense thing" or a "still small Voice"? I have been praying for God to speak to me more and that I would have ears to hear His voice, but sometimes, I still question some of what I hear. I'm going to keep praying that too, and I am going to keep chasing after God and getting closer to Him. I'm also going to be quiet and listen more because He rarely uses a neon sign in the sky to speak to us. What are you going to do?
"God said, 'Go out and stand in front of the LORD on the mountain.' As the LORD was passing by, a fierce wind tore mountains and shattered rocks ahead of the LORD. But the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind came an earthquake. But the LORD wasn't in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was a fire. But the LORD wasn't in the fire. And after the fire there was a quiet, whispering voice." 1 Kings 19:11-12 God's Word translation
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one." John 10:27-30 NASB
(I really like this one) My sheep give ear to my voice, and I have knowledge of them, and they come after me." John 10:27 Bible in Basic English
"Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." Luke 14:34-35 KJV

amen, amen, amen and amen sister!
I've gotten neon signs once in my life. and that's only because I didn't seem to feel the 2x4.....and I know what you mean about the "ok is this God or is this me wanting this to be God..." feeling....
Love you, thanks for sharing!
amen, amen and amen! God is so good! Sometimes He uses the 2X4(told me straight out that J was going to be my hubby-I remember the exact spotlight in the car ride when He did!) but sometimes it's hard to remember what He said when He tells you and it's so long in coming true! :)

this is why we're doing prayer journals in our Bible study...so people have records of the things they've been praying about, and don't forget the answers or knowledge they've been given.
Also, I think one of the Holy Spirit's nicknames is "common sense". That, and "funny feeling".
huh, wonder why I can post comments as my mother and yet she canNOT.
*lol* so, was "granny" you? And that IS an odd problem...
Why WON'T He use a neon sign?? I'm so willing to please if I just know what path to take, ya know? Tell me, plain as day, and I'll do it! But maybe He's quite so we have to, for example, turn off the TV to hear Him...instead of just being in the middle of our program when BLAM!! "CALL YOU'RE MOM!" comes on the God-radio. We would just say, "Okay," continue our program, then call our mom. He's quiet so we're PURPOSEFULLY listening...Good thoughts my dear :)
