Taking the Shot

Here's a taste of our new life. The story will follow... Shortly. I promise. :)

My Girl

She's started out skitish... isn't that a little bit like her mother starting something new.... She's had a few spills, one that really hurt, but she has picked herself up, brushed herself off and gotten back on her bike.

And you know what? She's not bad! She has, however, informed me that daddy is a better teacher than mommy.

More Boy Toys

Everyone needs a best friend. Better yet, everyone needs a best friend to act silly and ride little bikes with. Looks like these two are having fun....

Big Boys Need Toys Too

Well, the kiddos have their toys up and running... Granted, the WNY late March weather is keeping those toys tucked away most days, but hey, they are running!

Not to be outdone by his kids in the cool looking toys department, J decided it was time to spruce up his toy. What do you think?

Were new back fenders for the three wheeler really all that necessary??

The Way to My Kids' Hearts

If the way to my husband's heart is through his a) stomach b) three wheeler c) motorcycle d) all of the above, (for the sake of THIS discussion, we will stick with the c) motorcycle -- or maybe that's the way to MY heart??), then the way to my children's hearts is definitely through their very own motorcycles as well.

On Saturday we ignored our knock-you-flat-out-and-make-you-wish-for-the-raptureRIGHTNOW-week- long-sickness and started with a fantastic lunch with good friends and family. (Don't feel bad for the family.... they are the ones that shared the ..... sickness... to begin with.) Then we made our way to a hockey game (and if said family will get pictures of said game to me, perhaps there will be a post on that as well....) then off to shop for new motorcycles for very deserving and cute little children. The motorcycle shop intitally only had ONE bike and just about went to another city to retrieve it for us then found another, then realized that an employee had mismarked the second motorcycle.... By two hundred dollars. I love saving money that way. :) The manager of the store was nice enough to just say that her employee had messed up, congratulations to you, I owe you a large chuck of money and refund us the "overcharged" portion. Yay!!

T's bike is running,

daddy is prepping B's bike

and they are completely prepared to test them out. And also praying that God will send more weird warm Western NY weather our way so they can do some serious riding up in the gravel pit rather than try them out in head-to-toe-stay-warm-and-un-frostbitten snow gear up and down the road once. Hey, you have to start somewhere, though. Both adorable children have been found sitting on their bikes with wistful expressions on their faces. Wistful is better than devious. Safer, too, I hope.

CAUTION: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

Putting the Holes in Burn and Compost Barrels With Daddy

The Boy was in his glory. The Girl caught wind that The Boy was going to get to shoot a real gun with Daddy and wanted a shot at it herself. So, dearest Daddy went back inside and brought out Mommy's 22 and proceeded to hand one over to The Girl.

He set her up then bent down to show her how to line up the sights and then squeeze the trigger.

They worked on the safety and how to hold it so we don't have the gun aimed at anyone or anything that a bullet may bounce off.

Daddy then reloaded The Girl's gun and she hunkered down and squeezed of shots at a rapid succession.... Well, rapid for a six year old who has never shot. And, with almost every single shot that rang out, there was a resounding clang from the bullet hitting its mark.... my new burn barrel and compost barrel.

Since The Girl was using my gun and hitting the barrels the majority of the time, I have a sneaking suspicion that I won't be able to use faulty sights as an excuse for my complete inability to hit a target anymore. Shoot.

Both The Boy and The Girl did a fantastic job of making sure that air will be able to get to my compost and they kept Daddy busy reloading for a LONG time.

It's Time

The snow is gone. Hopefully for more than just today.
See this guy I'm with?

He just put this on the road in celebration of Spring.

And seeing him on it (Ree put's it best) "makes my hiney tingle."

And I really really like riding on it, too. I just don't drive it. Mine is WAY smaller and in peices in the garage while we rebuild the motor. For the record, I didn't do it. We bought it that way on purpose. Maybe when a certain someone comes home, we can go riding??
