We Made It!

That's right!! The end of our first quarter! The kids are doing wonderfully! I am considering making report cards for their use only and then writing up a basic rundown of how they are doing in everything to send to the school. J's aunt says that the less the school knows and can get their hands in, the better. For the record, both of them are passing all with flying colors and still love being homeschooled. Hurray!!

Oh yeah, we are Brownie Scouts and Bear Scouts this year, too! Yay! They still get to hang out with their friends with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

yeah, keep good records so if you're ever asked you're all set...but don't give them any more than you have to....
(btw, the record keeping was what saved me when the college I went to didn't want to let me register due to me having a home school dipoloma.....)
congrats teacher soccer mommy

yeah, yeah, I know... It might have something to do with not actually having the internet AT my house.... BUT, I found that I can get high speed wireless at church. YIPEE! So I apologize for BORING you, I will try to be better. :) Love you.

But what's worse is I can't remember the name of yours and clicking your name doesn't do me any good.... hmmm.....

I can't remember it either...but it might be in my email still?

I kinda agree with Pat, but kinda not. You do want to make sure that there is a documented record of all their progress besides just in your files, so that they won't run into opposition down the road with colleges, jobs, etc. The point of homeschooling is to make their adult life easier and more fulfilling, after all. Just saying "yeah, they're doing fine" probably isn't going to cut it...but I'm sure you're doing more than that.

I have a feeling if you said they were failing anything, the school would feel the need to (attempt to) step in, but I doubt they'll give you much trouble if you're upfront and honest. As if you'd ever lie.

glad to hear they're doing well, details!

love ya,

Passing with flying colors :) Working on Tanara's NEATNESS skills ;) *sigh* I will definitely be doing the testing stuff as well... I want to know they are learning what they are supposed to!! I guess it isn't a requirement until 4th grade, and I know it will help with the records and all that. Plus I am going to (when they are older :) ) look into putting them in college courses (ok, so, by older, I do mean like 16) so they can have a head start there. Etc. Love you and miss you, girl!! Only three years, only three years, only three years......

two years and ten months. not that anyone's counting.

Mrs. Guthrie said...

YES!! I am now on the countdown, too ;) Love ya.

saw a joke on a stranger's blog that I just had to copy for Johnny (not exactly my style, but I presume he will be amused). enjoy.

A skinny little white guy went into an elevator, looked up and saw this HUGE black guy standing next to him. The big guy saw the little guy staring at him, looked down and said, "7 feet tall, 350 pounds, 20-inch private, 3 pound left testicle, 3 pound right testicle, Turner Brown.

The white man fainted and fell to the floor. The big guy knelt down and brought him to by shaking him. The big guy said, "What's wrong with you?"

In a weak voice the little guy said, "What EXACTLY did you say to me?"

The big dude said, "I saw your curious look and figured I'd just give you the answers to the questions everyone always asks me. I'm 7 feet tall, I weigh 350 pounds, I have a 20-inch private, my left testicle weighs 3 pounds, my right testicle weighs 3 pounds, and my name is Turner Brown."

The small guy said, "Turner Brown? Sweet Jesus, I thought you said, 'turn around'!"
