Progress

Remember the chickens? Well, we are down to a total of EIGHT. One rooster (yes, it did turn out that Drumstick is a rooster and he is the ONE that.... survived.... The rest were..... tasty.) Out of all those sweet, fluffy little chicks, SEVEN were hens. *sigh* The other day we finally got one egg per hen.

Aren't they pretty?? Now if they will keep up the good work!

never fear, my mother will not rest until she has populated the state with chickens.

I liked the quiet post-too true! The bunny post was oh so cute! Those eggs will be great-Aunt B gave me a bunch of her eggs for my birthday-they were yummy! If I didn't live in a development I would seriously think of letting Aunt B populate my side of the state with chickens! ;)

i remember my grandfather used to take me at the back of their house and showed me baskets of hens and their eggs. my grandfather told me to bring the basket full of native eggs to my grandmother.

Hi there~
What kind of hens do you have?
I posted the other day about our big find...the first batch of eggs!

We have a Rhoade Island Red,a Barred Rock and a Black Austalorpe

I think the only one laying so far is the Rhoadie..the eggs are brown and the yoke is orange!
